Marina fuels are very similar to the type of fuel which we
used in your car, but they are specifically used in boats and another
watercraft. There are various fuel types that you use base on the type and size
of your craft and boat owners may be unsure of which is the best fuel to use on
their first trip to a fuel dock. Just like gasoline marine fuel comes in a
variety of different grades such as DMA, DMB, DMC, DMX, and ifo-180. The size
and function of your boat would decide the fuel grades you want to use, as each
engine function has different capacities.
Personal Boat:
A smaller boat can be fueled with the same type of gasoline
as your car, which can include diesel fuel. Even though it is easy to get the
gas for your boat when you will get the fuel for your car.
Commercial/Larger Boat:
The larger boat, the more specific the fuel requirement,
fuel for the larger or commercial boat has a completely different
classification than the average fuel used in smaller boats and cars. marine
boat sometimes carries waste products for instance used motor oil.
Marine diesel oil is (MDO) is also composed differently
than regular diesel fuel. Unlike your diesel, your car with MDO contains some
heavy fuel oil. It is important to understand the difference between the differences
in fuel so you can be sure to fill yours with the proper type.
Sulfur and Marine Oil
Marine gas oil used on the ship is a blend component of
light cycle (gas) oil (LCGO) that contain 60% aromatic, due to high aromatic
nature, the density of marine gas oil blended with gas oil LCGO will be higher
than the gas oil from atmospheric distillation refinery.
Sulfur Contain and Centane Index
The marine oil also contains low sulfur fuel oil or LSFO
because it has Sulphur contain between approx. 0.10 and 1.50 m/m %
Types of clean fuel oil:
· Residual
or marine fuel oil is a type of diesel oil that needed heating for usage.
· Distillate
marine
gas oil UAE does not require any heating process, DMB, and
DMC marine fuel oil, which does not require clear and bright.
The RM and DM are divided into further two groups, it
depends on Sulphur content in marine oil. In general, higher rpm engines
require high cetane index fuel. For more information read this.
